The Travelling Ape logo

Mike Richards, aka The Travelling Ape, is on a mission to visit all 195 countries and share his insights in geopolitics, international relations and personal development in his travel blog.

Setting the scene

Mike came to us, as he needed ideas and insight as to whether he could turn his hobby into a business. He’s been travelling the world for several years and documenting his adventures through his lens of a geopolitical analyst. He had an idea to turn his blog into a book and wanted to know if we thought this was viable.

Holding the branding workshop

Over the course of a 2-hour workshop, we asked Mike lots of important, and sometimes challenging, questions about his brand. We used a tool called the Business Model Canvas to provide a framework for the workshop.

By allowing Mike this valuable time to talk about his brand, we were able to tease out his true values and purpose and uncover some important and intriguing insights. This allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of who he is, where his passions lie, and where he could ultimately take his business in the future.

Preparing the branding document

Following the workshop, we set to work preparing the branding document. We captured what had been discussed during the workshop, came up with ideas for Mike’s brand values, messaging, and the products and services he could offer, and made recommendations for next steps.

Tying it all together

We then presented our document to Mike, running through our findings and ideas with him. He was very pleased with the results and found the whole process very exciting. It helped him to get unstuck and gave him inspiration for how to move forward with his brand.
